PDXoriginals & New Avenues for Youth

Portland Airport Bench Collaboration Auction

When we started PDXoriginals, we wanted to use our business as a vehicle for positive change. We reached out to the Portland design community, offering benches as a blank canvas to express a unique vision. We were overwhelmed by the response. Each team selected are specialists in a variety of design disciplines, from a digital media to woodworking. This impressive array of collaborators worked tirelessly to produce impeccable works of art, all for a good cause.

After debuting at Design Week Portland and TEDxPortland, and a gallery at the Fair-Haired Dumbbell Building, the auctions ended on May 31st and generated $7524 in proceeds for New Avenues for Youth. We can't think our collaboration partners enough, each of the 10 benches brought a level of creativity and craftsmanship that was as impressive as it was humbling. Additionally, we have to extend our gratitude to David Rae and the TEDxPortland team, Rachel Coddington and the Design Week Portland team, and Kevin Cavenaugh and the Guerrilla Development team for their generosity and guidance thru this exhausting, yet rewarding project.

Stay tuned for future collaboration projects that help benefit the Portland community. We have some amazing work in the pipeline. Click on the projects below to take a look at the gorgeous benches our collaboration partners produced.
